After many rumors and gossips finally, sky has launched its new model, namely sky mobile, to beat other launchers of EE, giffgaff, Vodafone and O2 etc. well its infrastructure is same as that of O2’s which means that it can approach the signals in the areas where O2 performs the service as well. Happily, this model gives 4g coverage to nearly 99 percent of UK indoor population.

According to the Stephon Van Rooyen and Ireland Chief Executive; “we have designed it according to what customers told us and what we observe that they need. It is easily flexible and transparent and it puts the customer in control. It’s time for people to have a smart new way to manage their mobile contract.”

Background

The January 2015 was the worth mentioning time for the sky mobile when they signed a contract with the Telefonica, the O2 network launcher. The benefit was that it gave access to get in 2G 3G and 4G spectrum. It is a mobile virtual operator or MVNO. Telefonica also had MVNO deals with Tesco mobile and Giffgaff.

On the other side other mobile networks like Virgin mobile and Talk-Talk had the same deal with the EE network and Vodafone. After the announcement of sky mobile EE sent an email to make a comparison that how much O2’s signals are poor in the market competition. This was specifically a highlighting email to make a poor impact.

In particular, EE made reference to the fact it scored top for latency, availability, and 4G speed – while O2 came last. In news, there were some comments like sky mobile bounds you in 12 month’s limits while giffgaff gives you free environment and it could beat sky package of 5 GB easily.

In responding, sky said: “even though it locks customers into a 12-month minimum contract, the Mix aspect of the plan means that it still offers competitive features compared to giffgaff.”

Features

Coverage

Sky mobile has widespread 2G and 3G coverage. It has comprehensive 4G coverage as well but beyond the EE and Three networks.

Sky Mobile Network Coverage

Network Type

Coverage by population

4G

99%

3G

99%

2G

99%

It gives 4g coverage to nearly all the population of UK. It covers 99 percent of UK population indoors, which puts it in the line with Vodafone and O2 but behind the EE. People approach the network because of its coverage services but coverage isn’t the best most feature of attracting the customer and it must not be the priority to pick a device.

Rollover Data

Well, rollover data is another attractive feature that means that if you don’t use the given package within the month then you can have it added in the future package. Most of the networks aim to stand out on rollover data feature. Sky mobile gives you access to this feature. You can enjoy the remaining package added to the future package.

Changing From one Tariff to Another.

Many time customers face problem in one network and try to switch to some other tariff but again in the transfer they meet with the difficulties, but here sky mobile helps you even if you want to quit and to switch to some other tariff. It happens that sometimes you are in contract with one tariff so you remain unable to switch to other one but in case of sky mobile, you can move even if you are bounded in any contract.

Plans of Sky Mobile

Sky mobile comes up with the best three plans

  • 1 GB for £10 per month
  • 3 GB for £15 per month
  • 5 GB for £20 per month.

Flexibility in the Plan

Non-Sky TV customers can add Unlimited Calls and Texts for £10 per month, or pay for calls and texts on a Pay as You Use (PAYU) basis. This means they don’t pay for inclusive calls and texts they don’t need.

This is the unique feature of sky mobile, no other launcher is offering such facility to the customer. Due to such flexibility, sky mobile is gaining more users and becoming entirely different from other UK mobile networks.

Change of Plan

Sky mobile gives flexibility in plans so if a customer wants to change the package or data plan they can. They can change their plan every month according to their wants and needs but there is a limitation of 12-month usage. After that, you can avail and change every offer of your choice.

Mix

Rather than being locked into long-term contracts, Sky Mobile’s call and text packages change when needed. For example, if they need more or less data, or calls and texts, they can change their plan using ‘Mix’. Downgrades are effective in the month following selection.

Sync

Sky mobile customers can have their own favorite playlist if they want they can create other personal playlists of their favorite shows. This facility is another unique feature of Sky Mobile. Customers can scream programs or their favorite shows over the 4G and even they can watch their favorite shows later by downloading them over the Wi-Fi.
